Question Paper: - Hinduism
In this blog I would like to emphasize on the fact that although Hindu religion in its core philosophy may be the best of all religions but it in practice, promotion and existence it carries traits of arrogance, discrimination, self-pity, insecurity and cowardice. The religion is devoid of appreciation towards change and criticism, lacks endurance although the protagonists claim that it is one the oldest religion.
In order to make things more clear and give support to my writing skills I would be using Question & Answer format. Although I am not superb at writing in this format but this is what makes me feel more comfortable. I can’t write much unless and until a question is asked. For this I would like to Thank Indian education system:-) where writing has been taught through answering to questions. I bet most of you feel the same way, unless you have been a passionate writer for years.
Frequently Asked Question and Answers ( Total Marks : 15)
1) Why do you criticize Hinduism inspite of you being a Hindu. – 2 marks
Ans: -A Hindu can exist/coexist in below three formats:-
1) Hindu for others
2) Hindu for yourself
3) Hindu by law
Although for others and by law I am a Hindu, the point of discussion here is Hindu for yourself
2) Do you believe that Ram, Laksham, Hanuman, Krishana, Balaram etc people existed – 2 marks
Ans: - The discussion here is independent of whether these people existed or not. If they existed they were definitely not God but were Good people hence were not Hindus.
3) If they were not Hindus then what was their religion ? - 3 marks
Ans:- First let me introduce you to the fundamentals of branding
A brand is the personality that identifies a product, service or company (name, term, sign, symbol, or design, or combination of them) and how it relates to key constituencies: Customers, Staff, Partners, Investors etc. – Wiki
Something may exist but it may not be branded. Religion is a way of life and why would someone brand it. Branded were the teachings/Literature/philosophies etc . The Vedic philosophy, Adviata Vedanta, Yogas etc would have prevailed at that time. They would have followed any one or more or none of the philosophies.
As there was no name of religion at that time so they were not hindus
4) If these people are born today which religion would they prefer to adopt – 1 Mark
Ans: - I think they would prefer to remain clean and hence would remain religionless, although law and their worshipers will think of them as hindus.
5) What makes you think that hinduism is not clean – 2 marks
Ans: - Below are the reasons which stand against the cleanliness of hinduim
1) *People who think that religion can be too small to be given a name
2) People who become sadhus and who think they are born to promote hinduism
3) People who think hinduism is the best.
*Please note that these can be people from other religions also
6) What makes you think hinduism is not clean – elaborate – 5 marks
Ans: - 1) People who think that religion can be too small to be given a name: - If a person thinks that he needs to give a name to what he does then he is a victim of identity crisis and should be allowed to name. These are not the ones I am talking about. The people I am trying to talk about are those who are not doing what has to be done and still need a popular name tag. For example “ if I use a local make(no name) of washing powder for my clothes and store it in a packet of surf or tide and if that gives me a right to think and say that I use surf/tide then I am a contemprary hindu”. There are people who are willing to die for the reason of a mosque getting replaced by a temple or vice/versa but will fail to recall 10 avatars of vishnu and many won’t even know vishnu has 10 avatars ( Many hindus believe that god is in three forms – vishnu, brahma and mahesh and vishnu is the caretaker of all and he routinely visits earth to help people. As of now he has visited 9 times and only 1 visit is pending)
2) People who become sadhus and who think they are born to promote hinduism: - There is nothing wrong in promoting a religion. I am also in marketing and I promote products. The present genre of sadhus are under too much pressure not from other religions but from their peers. The noise of media has further added to the pressure and hence the things have become worse. All this has made things difficult for those who truly want promote a godly philosophy. You have to be a Shiv Khera or Chetan bhagat to promote a funa. In Indian Hindu families people have the option of sanyas ( Monk). So people who don’t have courage to handle family life often run away and become monks, many of them remarry and become “monks with families”, although the life becomes much easier because the person now is assured that his son/daugther will practice the same and earn enough donations. For being a hindu monk one needs to have either/and of the below qualities:-
a. Good at preaching gyan: - This means one should know all the virtues of being good and should be able to tell the same to the people
b. Good at giving answering all sort of queries:- for eg: - Query by a mother: -1) Baba, my son has started drinking a lot what should I do. Ans: - xxxx ki jai bolo
c. Good at justifying anything: - Devotee: - Don’t you think killing someone for mandir/masjid is wrong. Ans: - Nothing is wrong if you say xxxxx before doing that thing.
There are very few serious and good monks too, they are not in the preview of this discussion.
3) People who think hinduism is the best: - These are people who are into too much of comparison. Continuing from the example in pt 1). “ You are using a local brand of detergent and put it in a Tide packet whereas a friend of yours who actually used to use tide and has now shifted to surf because of its advantages. One evening you start a discussion over which brand is the best among detergents:- infact you start it with the point that Tide is the best detergent and your friend feels its surf. Although you had never used tide in your life, infact on some occasions in the past you were forced to borrow surf from your friend you keep pushing and advocating ‘tide’ to an extent that you end up killing your friend that evening then you are definitely a hindu.”
